You are smart to not try to take it as fast as possible. The kids would be miserable. If it's an adventure, with something fun awaiting each time, it will be better.

I don't envy you though. I drove with Katrina, Shiona, and Karen the 8 hrs from NC to GA. Katrina was so DONE with the drive about 2 hours into it. Halfway there, she wanted to turn back. And we made it in 12 hours, because of hour-long McDonalds playing, rest-stop running around, etc.

Your children may not be as restless as that. In fact, I've been praying for the exact opposite. Plus, I know if K had her cousins in there, she'd have loved it much more. Your kids will too!Denisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15325492689515460829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8693690641892596564.post-64985686592672878582009-08-23T14:23:35.158-04:002009-08-23T14:23:35.158-04:00That's an incredibly long trip. Safely, of course. I'd try it on the kids before the trip to make sure it doesn't have the opposite effect.
Mount Rushmore is way cool, but try to shoot for a clear day. While Pike Street Market and the very first Starbucks do get a lot of draw, go to Dahlia lounge and try the doughnuts. INCREDIBLE.

And Pike Street Brewery is one of my fave places to eat. And go Rocky Mountain chocolate and get one of their crazy caramel apples.
