My heart is used to breaking now.
In this half a span of the years generally allotted to a woman, it has taken quite a beating. It now tends to shatter into a million pieces at the slightest touch, and the tears, oh! the tears flow... so easily...
But this is my gift to you, my grieving friend. This, my so-breakable heart. Because when you are in pain, I will come to you and we can sit and our hearts will break together. And when your tears rob you of words, my broken heart and I will come and we will sit with you and wait forever. I will ask you, "what do you need to say? what do you need to speak out loud?" And we will listen to you. And the tears will come and we will weep together, without words.
I promise you. I will not try to comfort you. I will not make false promises about healing, or normalcy, or a future without pain. I will only sit, and silently bear witness.
