In which I cuss a little and make pronouncments that will shock the internets.

That's it. I'm calling it. I am in labor. Starting now. Or rather, 6:30 pm, August 25th. God only knows when he'll actually be born, but by golly, I'm going to get full credit for all the *muttercusscussmutter* I have to put up with in the last month of pregnancy. EVERY SINGLE EVENING, I will probably have at least an hour of regular, strong, timeable contractions. Contractions intense enough to have me pacing the floors and snapping at all and sunder. For at least the next four weeks. One day my children will appreciate what I went through for them!!

I hope.

In the meantime, I'm at least going to get the credit for my four-week-long labors. And when y'all hear rumors of three or four "false alarms" that bring J rushing home from work in the middle of the day, only to have things peter out in a few hours, I want you to realize the extent of the confusion caused by my BLASTED uterus. Seriously. With Judah, I wasn't convinced it was reallyforreal until my water broke, 45 minutes before he was born. Everyone else knew what was going on, but I still had this nagging feeling that I was going to have to shame-faced-ly send everyone home any minute right up till that moment.

*stomps off to get in the pool*

Ugh, I get weeks of prodromal labor too and it's the worst. It sure helps though, it makes the actual labor go much quicker and easier. So it's not "false", if that helps at all. The end of pregnancy is the most emotionally trying. And physically too of course.
Wishing you all the best.

I only had the prodromal labor 9 days before my labor, for about 6 hours that day, and then just strong BH each day until the actual day. Even 25 hours into my labor (and 9 hours at the hospital) I said to Jonathan, "I just want them to tell me if I've dialated any more, and if I can go home, I don't know how much longer this will take (hours, days, etc)." Haha. The mere idea of them letting me go home wasn't even mentioned! She came 10 hours later.

I guess it may be something you Howell women do... What with Susi's 10 day labor, or whatever the actual count was.

However, I'm utterly empathetic. I mean, I cannot imagine thinking you could be wrong up to 45 minutes before the baby comes.... So you'd HAVE to tell J... Then to have it peter out. Exhausting.

I'll just keep praying for you, Jamie, and your labor.

Thanks for the encouragement and the prayers, ladies. :) It's nice to know there are others who deal with the same thing. It really helps to think of it as "normal" and not a malfunctioning body. KWIM?

You have my UTMOST sympathies. Jade gave me prodromal labor every weekend for 6 weeks before she was finally born. I would be so sure I was in labor, and then the ctrx would become irregular or it would just peter out in the wee hours of Sunday morning. And the only thing it "accomplished" was robbing me of sleep and sanity for weeks. Cuss all you want to. It sucks. {{HUG}}

BTW, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it doesn't necessarily help labor go faster, unless you're a quick labor person. Jade's labor was 15 hours, after *weeks* of prodromal labor. Granted I pushed her out in 15 minutes, but the labor part was rather longish. I hope the opposite will be true for you, and Jamie will just come shooting right on out! :-)

Brooke, oh yes, I know. My first labor (after weeks of prodromal) was 35 hours and the second was 11. I fully expect at least 8-10 this time around-- weeks of prodromal labor notwithstanding.
